Our approach
Beep Africa Technologies Limited provides communication services that banks, schools, hospitals, government bodies and thousands of businesses rely on every day. We believe that kind of trust has to be earned through clear accountability, honest dealing and well-run systems, not just good products.
This statement summarises how we govern the company. It is supported by the policies listed below and reviewed at least once a year by our directors.
Certification status: Beep Africa is not yet certified to ISO 9001 or ISO/IEC 27001. Our management systems are being built in line with these standards, and we are working towards independent certification. We will update this page when certification is achieved.
Leadership and accountability
- Our Board of Directors sets strategy, approves key policies and oversees risk, compliance and financial performance.
- Management runs the business day to day, with named owners for quality, information security, data protection and regulatory compliance.
- A data protection lead oversees compliance with the Data Protection Act, 2019, and a security lead oversees our information security management system.
- Responsibilities are documented, and staff receive induction and regular training on our policies.
Risk management
We maintain a risk register covering strategic, operational, financial, regulatory, information security and supplier risks. Each risk has an owner, an assessment of likelihood and impact, and agreed controls.
Significant risks are reviewed by management every quarter and reported to the directors. New products, major suppliers and significant changes are risk-assessed before launch.
Legal and regulatory compliance
- Communications Authority of Kenya requirements for sender IDs, short codes and messaging services
- The Data Protection Act, 2019 and its regulations
- The Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, 2018
- Tax law, including KRA eTIMS invoicing on every payment
- The Bribery Act, 2016, and employment and consumer protection law
- Mobile network operator and Meta (WhatsApp) platform rules
Compliance is monitored by management and any breach is investigated, fixed and, where required, reported to the relevant authority.
Management systems and standards
We are building two management systems aligned with international standards:
- A Quality Management System aligned with ISO 9001, described in our Quality Policy
- An Information Security Management System aligned with ISO/IEC 27001:2022, described in our Information Security Policy
Our progress towards certification:
